- Define programme data architecture, including models, standards and integration patterns aligned to TOGAF or DAMA principles.
- Establish clear architectural principles and ensure solutions are proportionate, pragmatic and scalable.
Strategic Alignment & Governance
- Align architecture with the wider data strategy and support business case development and investment decisions.
- Contribute to governance forums, maintaining key artefacts such as reference architectures, decision records and data dictionaries.
Delivery Support
- Guide Agile delivery teams, providing architectural assurance across sprints, design sessions and backlog development.
- Collaborate with data engineer, modeller and solution architect to ensure designs are practical and technically sound.
- Identify and escalate architectural risks, issues and technical dependencies.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

- Mentor and support members of the data team, fostering capability growth.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Architect in a large, complex organisation—ideally within the public sector.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture frameworks, including TOGAF or DAMA‑DMBOK.
- Experience designing data warehouses, data lakes, integration layers and API‑driven data sharing patterns.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture concepts and modern data platform technologies.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with data modelling methodologies and practices.
- Familiarity with modern data platform patterns and cloud‑native architectures.
