We are seeking a candidate for a role as a postdoctoral research associate, with a PhD in geography or sustainable development, to join our dynamic team. The study of tropical flora has been a focus of Kew researchers for several decades, with well-established collaborations across a number of tropical countries. This combined research and project management role forms part of two projects funded by Rio Tinto (RT) – “Improved Forest Carbon Estimates in the Republic of Guinea” – and the Global Centre for Biodiversity and Climate (GCBC) –  “Using biodiversity to support climate resilient livelihoods in intact tropical peatlands”.

Requirements

  • PhD in geography or sustainable development
  • Experience conducting fieldwork and research in tropical countries
  • Proven track record in financial management and reporting
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French
  • Enjoy collaborating with global research partners

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and project management for two projects: “Improved Forest Carbon Estimates in the Republic of Guinea” and “Using biodiversity to support climate resilient livelihoods in intact tropical peatlands”.
