This post is suitable for candidates with previous Paediatric and neonatal experience in level 2 and 3 neonatal unit interested in gaining advancing their paediatric training and in gaining further Neonatal and Paediatrics experience. UK NHS experience is essential.

Requirements

  • Registerable medical qualification
  • Full registration with GMC with License to Practice.
  • Higher qualifications MRCPCH (Desirable)
  • Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Management course and / or qualification (Desirable)
  • Wide experience in all aspects of neonatal and Paediatric care, culminating in award of CCT or equivalent
  • Evidence of ST3/4 competencies
  • Worked in Level 2/3 neonatal unit in NHS (Desirable)
  • NLS provider (Desirable)
  • Experience in day-to-day organisation of neonatal and Paediatric services in a busy Teaching Hospital
  • Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes (Desirable)
  • Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and quality improvement.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead change
  • Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation
  • Experience of conducting or supporting clinical research
  • Teaching skills course / qualification. (Desirable)
  • Publication of relevant review articles or case reports (Desirable)

Responsibilities

  • The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of patients under the supervision of a consultant neonatologist.
  • Clinical responsibilities will include:
    • Neonatal Unit- ward rounds, discharge planning, acute admissions and neonatal work.
    • Responsibility for either neonatal unit, or postnatal ward and labour ward working with the other middle grade doctors.
    • Regular attendance and active participation in neonatal outpatient clinics.
    • Participation in overall supervision and education of junior doctors and medical students.
    • Taking an active part in the department's education programme.
    • Taking an active part in audit. An audit project is expected in this post.

Benefits

  • Salary: £65,048 to £73,992 a year Per annum, plus London Zones £2,162
